Help me find a way find a way to make brain tumours go the way of the dinosaurs

Brain cancer research is on the tipping point. We can all be part of making important breakthroughs happen. My fundraising is something that I can do to support the science and in the meantime the patients. For all the people out there currently battling brain tumours and for those who couldn’t wait for research to progress any longer. I’m doing this because I know we can find a way to make brain tumours go the way of the dinosaurs.

A death sentence

In 1969 Neil Armstrong and the Apollo 11 crew landed on the moon, in what I assume was a highlight of Armstrong’s life.

But the early 60’s were very different for him.

Soon after her 2nd birthday, Armstrong’s daughter Karen was diagnosed with Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), a horrible, evil form of paediatric brain cancer that no one survives.

Karen was treated with radiation therapy, before passing away soon afterwards at age 2.

That was 55 years ago, and tragically, a child diagnosed with DIPG today can expect exactly the same treatment and outcome as little Karen.

I refuse to accept it needs to be this way.

That’s why we’re continuing to fundraise for RCD Foundation-Robert Connor Dawes to fund childhood brain cancer research, and it’s why we need your help.

Brain cancer kills more kids in Australia than any other disease; The equivalent of a classroom of children annually, and survival rates haven’t meaningfully improved in decades. I could go on…..

It’s shit. I’ve seen the devastation and suffering it causes personally. I hate it, and it makes me so angry that Governments have put so little effort into stopping it, ever. They’ve done almost nothing.

So we’re doing it ourselves. We’re fundraising so we can fund as much good research as possible, and we won’t stop until brain cancer does.

It’s not impossible; It’s just difficult, and we haven’t worked it out yet.

On Saturday the 17th of February 2024 our little team at The Euroa Gym will be rowing 2000km on about 12 machines, as we work toward raising $100,000 for paediatric brain cancer research.

We’d love your help, we’d love your support, and we just want people to understand and care about this.
